In-Person Classes

Becoming Parenting Partners after Divorce

If you prefer a class where you can interact directly with the instructor and class participants, we offer one in-person class each month. Check the schedule to find the next class.

Class Description

Cooperative parenting following divorce is often easier said than done. Parenting time glitches, child support, and plain old human emotions can get in the way of cooperative parenting.

This 3.5-hour class will address how parents can create a parenting partnership that encourages both parents to remain actively involved in their children’s lives. Key components of the class are how divorce affects children, reducing conflict, and improving communication and working together.

This class is most appropriate for parents who have low conflict, a fairly amicable parenting relationship, and a desire to communicate and cooperate with each other related to parenting issues.

Topics Addressed:
  • Understanding what your children need
  • The high price your children pay when you and the other parent are in conflict
  • Managing conflict and avoiding potential hot spots
  • Steps to becoming a great co-parenting team
  • Effective communication strategies and how to put them to work
  • Creating child-focused parenting plans and transitions
If you are in a high-conflict situation, we strongly recommend an online class. We have developed a module that specifically addresses parenting issues related to high-conflict. Online class information
